Donald Glover, known in the land of Hip Hop as Childish Gambino, has got the nod from FX Networks as the company will showcase his pilot that focuses on Atlanta’s scorching rap scene. Glover has found success in both music and television and he now gets to combine the two in the pilot he created, Atlanta.
The pilot follows two cousins in Atlanta’s rap scene, with
Glover playing a character named Earnest ‘Earn’ Marks, described as a
“college dropout who reconnects with his long buried ambition and sets out to
seize the life he imagined for himself when his estranged cousin becomes a
sudden star.” Glover will also executive produce the show.
As an actor Glover played the role of Troy Barnes on NBC’s Community for five seasons before
leaving the show earlier this year.
Glover aka Childish Gambino has most recently found success in music,
being recently nominated for two Grammys.
