Could the good people over at Lifetime network possibly be
on “that stuff”? The Aaliyah biopic has
been giving the network it’s fair share of problems, but to me it seems self-inflicted.
Lifetime’s first mistake was that they
never consulted with Aaliyah’s immediate family, which is not cool. How did you even capture Aaliyah’s true story
without speaking with her family? Lifetime then had to deal with the epic fail
of casting Zendaya Colemen as Aaliyah, which resulted in the young actress
dropping out of the role. To take things to another level of craziness, the
network has released the roles of Timbaland and Missy Elliot.
The two major roles have been filled by Izaak Smith…
and Chattrisse
Dolabaille.
Honestly, I just don’t
get it. They look nothing like Timbaland and Missy. At this point, I am not sure if Lifetime

The Wu-Tang Clan made their first appearance as a group in
years yesterday as they crashed TheDaily Show with Jon Stewart.Fans have been at the edge of their seats
in anticipation of this reunion and it finally happened, even though it may not
have been the type of stage that most were expecting.Either way, it was a win for Hip Hop.
Even with the group’s new album, A Better Tomorrow, in the works, fans weren’t sure if a reunion
would actually take place.Over the past
year there was a small beef cooking up between RZA and Raekwon.Both rappers could be heard on the radio
describing their differences.Since
then, the two have put those differences to the side to move the group
forward.
Last night’s highly anticipated reunion was a nice warm-up for
their official on-stage reunion at the SOURCE360
Concert on Sept. 20th at The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NYC.This upcoming performance is definitely going
to be dope.
The Daily Show’s stage may not be the same as The Barclays
Center’s, but it still provided a platform for the legendary Hip Hop group as
they performed their new track “Ron O’neal” and their classic “Triumph”.Check out the full episode Here.
While record labels are scrambling to keep their heads above
the water, the formula that once made them millions is now a thing of the
past. However, the rationale behind
these labels is the same…get money. The problem with this is that record labels
are having a tough time trying to figure out exactly how to do this. The bigger labels can leach off of their
Superstars, but that money alone is not enough to fatten their pockets.
Today’s strategy for labels is to take, take, take, but from
who?Enter Trinidad James.This “one-hit” wonder found fame with his
“All Gold Everything” hit, which earned him a deal with Def Jam.The question I have for my readers is,
“Should Trinidad James even received a record deal to Def Jam?”Don’t get me wrong, I don’t knock any man’s
hustle, but I definitely know of a few worthy emcees that would flourish at Def
Jam over top of James.

Wow, but is this really shocking?It’s sad that the brother is left with only
what he came with, but we all know by now that the music industry comes with
its own prenuptials.Hopefully, if
Trinidad James is a true star, this will only be fuel to his flame.We shall see…time will tell.
This morning James played it smart and capitalized on the unwanted attention dropping a new single titled “Doin Me”. The new track is below, check it out and let us know what you think.
Mr. 17.5 has quietly gone from one of rap’s most basic trap
rappers to a rap kingpin. In my opinion,
the Atlanta rapper doesn’t quite get the credit he deserves. However, this may be a direct result of not releasing
an album in almost three years, but this is all about to change on September
2nd when he releases his highly anticipated album Seen It All. The self-titled
track “Seen It All” has already caused pandemonium with its Jay Z feature, but
what actually launched Jeezy’s unofficial return to the album scene was his
lead single “Me Ok”.
The “Me Ok” single dropped a few months back and it was
everything you would expect…Classic Jeezy.
With Jeezy’s album dropping in just weeks, today he decided to bless
fans with a visual to his “Me Ok” track.

video features cameos from Rich Homie Quan and Trey Songz. Check the new video out below and let us know

Jeezy’s next video will be for the “Seen It All” track, but that is of course
if Jay Z isn’t too busy for the video.
My advice to Jay Z, “Take the stairs Hov”. We need that “Seen It All’ video. Until then, peep the new Jeezy visual “Me Ok”.
I recently attended a video shoot for The Furious 1 Mr
Styles’ new visual “Henny Heiny”. The
evening was chockfull of entertainment and plenty of alcohol. The Western Pennsylvania rapper is evidence
that the struggle is real, but so is the Turn Up.
Western Pennsylvania is filled with talented artists and the
GMFL general is another great example.Ever
since Wiz Khalifa cracked the door for Pittsburgh, many artists have been
striving to bust down that same door to make their way to stardom.
The Furious 1 Mr Styles is no newbie to the Pittsburgh area rap
scene.In 2009 and 2011 he was voted Pittsburgh
Underground Rapper of the Year.Ten
years in the game and The Furious 1 is looking for more, which makes the title
to his upcoming album Now or Never all
the more real.
The Furious 1’s biggest hit to date is GMFL Records’ “Great D (Dick LeBeau)”. The song pays tribute to Pittsburgh Steeler
defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau. The
song was released during the Steelers deep playoff in 2011 and was received
very well from the Pittsburgh area gaining over 2,000 views daily, until that
dark day in Pittsburgh when the Steelers lost in Super Bowl XLV. After that loss, the views made a sudden
halt, but if you know Steelers Nation like I do, it only makes sense. Just a few weeks ago the tribute reemerged
and achieved recent success as it was featured on the NFL Network’s TheTop
100 Players of 2014. The song was
showcased during Pittsburgh Steeler Ike Taylor’s segment. This feature on the special was huge for The
Furious 1 and now it is time to take advantage of that momentum again.
Mr Styles along with his GMFL cohorts Prezident Miller, D to
the OG, and Unknown are looking to be the area’s next big thing and even though
it seems like work at times, The Furious 1 always makes it look like fun.His “Henny Heiny’ track is his latest
tribute and this time around he is dedicating his music to his Saturday
nights.The video shoot was dope and trust
me, no acting was involved.The squad
definitely put on that night and green bottles were everywhere.
The Furious 1 Mr Styles’ anticipated album Now or Never drops this fall so be on
the lookout. In the meanwhile, check out
