[Watch This!] Jay Z & Beyoncé’s Short Film “Bang Bang”

Now that the smoke has cleared, we find Jay Z and wife Beyoncé hand in hand with a beautiful child and possibly another in the near future.  Yeah, the rumors haven’t been confirmed, but rumors of Beyoncé’s pregnancy paint an entirely different picture than the recent rumors of the couple’s alleged divorce.  Either way, Mr. & Mrs. Carter seem stronger than ever and it shows in their new short film.  Months ago the couple released an “On The Run” movie teaser that promoted a movie that was “coming never”, which sparked the brilliant idea of the power couple trying their hands at an actual movie.  Well, we may be far from a movie featuring Jay Z & Beyoncé, but not to far from the concept.

With assistance from film director Dikayl Rimmasch, Jay Z & Beyoncé will release a trilogy of short films.  The trilogy begins with “Bang Bang” which can be seen below.  Check it out.  Part 2 of the trilogy drops tomorrow, which is the perfect segway for the “On The Run” special debuting on HBO this Saturday, Sept. 20th.

[Hip Hop News Now] The 2014 Made In America Festival Was A Huge Win For Hip Hop

During a season filled with musical festivals, the 2014 Made In America Festival officially ended the summer on a high note. The festival kicked off on Saturday in Philadelphia and for the first time in downtown Los Angeles.  In Philly, J. Cole did his thing as usual and opened up with a profound tribute to Mike Brown.  His label mate Bas, Big Daddy Kane, Chromeo, Baauer, and Steve Aoki also hit the stage before Yeezus came through and shut the scene down.  Watch Kanye's set below.

Over in L.A., artists Kendrick Lamar and TDE, Hit-Boy with special guest Rich Boy, YG, and DJ Mustard performed in front of a packed crowd at Grand Park. Ms. Fancy herself, Iggy Azalea, delivered her hits such as “Problem,” “Fancy,” and “Black Widow” with a surprise appearance from Rita Ora.

On day 2 the event went out with a big bang. Kanye West flew cross country to Los Angeles to perform for concertgoers on the same stage that earlier featured John Mayer, Chance the Rapper, Nipsey Hussle, Rita Ora, Steve Aoki, and SZA. Jay Z and Beyoncé made a cameo as they attended the event to catch Kanye’s 80-minute set to close the night.

Back in Philly, YG performed for a hyped crowd.  The level of excitement grew for the crowd as YG did a tribute for Philly’s very own Meek Mill.  Meek is currently incarcerated and when YG held up a shirt that read “Free Meek” the audience went crazy.

Pharrell ended the event with a dope set, performing songs of old as well as new off of his hit album GIRL.

All in all, the entire event was a success and even Hova himself broke his silence tweeting this:

[Hip Hop News Now] Blue Ivy Dancing At VMA’s Was The Highlight Of The Event

With an award show that has lost its mojo over the years, it’s hard to find the great moments that make the otherwise watered-down MTV Video Music Awards worth watching.  Sure the ladies of Hip Hop and R&B are increasing in numbers and adding “friendly” competition to categories that once seemed like giveaways to Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé, but as much as I enjoyed watching these ladies perform, it was over as quickly as it started and I was back to watching an award show that honestly didn’t relate to me.  This ultimately reminded me that…oh yeah…we still are the minority…even though you can’t tell when watching the Hip Hop culture take the world by storm.

The greatest takeaway from the event for me was watching Jay Z and Beyoncé shake the haters off and attest that their marriage is as strong as it ever was.  With Blue Ivy also in attendance the Carter’s once again took their seats on the throne.  With all the negative attention that the Carter’s have received since the elevator incident, it was nice to see that the rumors of divorce were just that…rumors.  During Beyoncé’s performance of “Flawless” an audience cam caught Blue Ivy doing her own moves to momma Carter’s hit song.  Jay Z’s face is priceless after watching his baby girl do her thing.  Check out the 8-second clip below.
