Stevie Wonder Delivers Influential Speech Mid-Concert On Recent Killings

Legendary singer and musician Stevie Wonder may not be able to physically see, but right now he is seeing clearer than some people with 20/20 vision.  During a recent concert in Seattle for his Songs In The Key Of Life tour Stevie took a moment to express his feelings on the recent events that are currently dividing our country.

“Can you believe that in one month, two grand juries, secret grand juries, declined to indict two policemen for the killing of two black men? I just don’t understand that,” stated Wonder.  Stevie briefly spoke on the tragedies while he smoothly transitioned into one of his classic songs, “Living For The City.”

As Stevie concluded his powerful speech he added, “I do understand that something is wrong, real wrong, and we as family, Americans, all of us of all colors, need to fix it with a quickness, real soon. I love you; I really love you, and know that. And this is why this song is unfortunately still relevant today.”

[Hip Hop News Now] G-Unit Releases Song Addressing The Recent Killings By The Police “Ahhh Shit”

The irrational and unnecessary shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri has sparked a racially intensive fire across the nation.  The 18-year-old Michael Brown died after being shot six times by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson.  Brown was unarmed and expected to start college in a few days.

The FBI has opened a civil rights investigation of the shooting and President Barack Obama issued a statement giving his condolences to the Brown family.  Obama has also committed the U.S. Department of Justice to conduct an investigation.  But is this enough?  How long is the African-American community going to have to feel like victims in their own communities?  Young black men are treated as target practice by the local authorities and all this nation does is protect those who have committed these crimes.

How much more pain does the black community have to endure before we are treated like people and not the beasts that we are portrayed to be?

While riots and violence continue in Ferguson as a direct result of the killing of Michael Brown, many Hip Hop artists have given their support and sympathies.  Yesterday, G-Unit dropped a track expressing their feelings about police brutality and the absurd killings.  The song is titled “Ahhh Shit” and features the Unit’s Young Buck, Kidd Kidd, and 50 Cent.

Check out the song below and be sure to weigh in on this issue.  I would love to hear your thoughts on not only this song, but also on these senseless killings by the police.
